hey everyone
quick question.... I'm 18 years old and have recently become sexually active... To make a long story short, I went to my gyno today and she recommended that i start taking birth control pills... she gave me a four month supply.... Well, I didn't exactly read the directions and my dumb self took one tonight... Later to find out that I wasn't supposed to take one until the sunday after my period... I started bleeding down there a little bit later and I'm curious as to whether or not i should just stop taking them until the sunday after my period? or do i keep taking them?? Help?

Hi,
I've been on the pil almost three years, primarily for contraception but also because of horrible period cramps. I also had some problems (forgetting to take it 2 days and bringing on my period blah) and my gyno told me to continue taking the pills even though I had my period and wait seven days after they ran out before going on the next pack (even though I didnt bleed). So I think you should probably continue on them - but - it's possible the contraceptive effect might not be at it's highest; if I were you I'd use other protection until you start the 2nd round.

I agree with staying on other protection (for lots of things other than pregnancy!) till the second round. I was on the pill and switched brands, maybe missed one or two days, too. Bam, I'm pregnant.
