My 16 month daughter was recently put on an antibiotic and since then hasn't slept in days. It's like she has had 10 energy drinks. She's not really cranky or irritable just wide awake. I have been reading up on sensitivities to red dye because thinking back she has had the same thing happen when I've given her tylenol.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Or could it be just coincidence that she's just sick and that's why she's not sleeping?

I have bought the dye free tylenol and motrin for future use. Does anyone know if antibiotics come without the dye?

THANKS!!!

I was recenty diagnosed with a sever allergy to red #40 so I am new at this--I am a female 58 years of age, as a child I was allergic to cows milk and wool --to my knowledge that was all....I am a veteran so go to the VA for all my health needs (thank the lord for the VA) It is my understanding that for just about every medicatation some one makes it in white--the trick is finding a pharmacy or Doctor that understands how serious this is and will help you find the meds.....Suggest you go to a good library and find a copy of Handbook of Food Additivies 2nd Edition (CRC Press) and start readin on page 339---very helpfull information.....MS

I don't have any experience with dye allergies, but I can tell you an allergic reaction can make you a little "hyper" You get an adrenaline rush as your body reacts, which can definitely cause restlessness.
