A Condom.

Nothing else can be better than that.

(^^^Ugh)

Depo is nice, but has HUGE side effects such as bone loss (for everyone who takes it) and many people on it have other various side effects such as depression, constant bleeding, cramps, weight gain, etc. Its not a bad method, but something you should be cautious when using because you are stuck with the effects until the med clears your system.

Other hormonal methods are more trouble because you have to remember them (change a patch weekly, take a pill daily, change a ring monthly) but if you react badly to them, you can just stop taking them. The patch has been under attack lately, but as long as you know the risks and are ok with them, I think you would like the ease of it. Nuva ring is also really easy, though there are some people who don't don't like the side effects of the progestin in it (break outs and such) and it can make you a little more prone to yeast infections if you don't clean it regularly. The pill is good and there are so many different kinds you can try to find one that is best for you. Also, it is a good bit cheaper than the ring or patch (because you can get generic if you want). I have been on the ring, now I am on Yasmin. Both are really good, the ring was much easier, but the hormones in Yasmin are a better fit for me. Now I have to remember to take a pill every day at the same time which stresses me just a little, but I make my boyfriend wear condoms, so that offers a little added protection.

And to Woody, I would advise everyone to NOT consider condoms birth control - they are STD control. A second method should be used with a condom (such as spermicide or my favorite, the sponge).

I too wouldn't consider condoms to be too great of a choice. I have also been on Depo. I was on it for 2 years and experienced nothing but problems from it. You can read all about my Depo experience in my other posts.

The only bc I've tried is condoms, Depo and the pill..........and for myself, I would go with the pill before choosing the others that I've tried. Used condoms.......and got pregnant. Used Depo.........and had the hardest time getting pregnant. The pill..........my experience was fine (I was on Loestrin).
