DS is 17 months old and lately has been having some strange issues with having his clothes changed. The other day while I was dressing him I went to change his onesie and he freaked out because I was taking it off. He kept trying to put it back on and after I got it off would not give it up and just hung on to it sobbing. Then another day we went through the same issue with his pj shirt. He sobs like you broke his heart if you take it off. I actually feel bad because it is not like a temper cry but like you are hurting him. He is just heart broken. Is this normal stage? Or is there some underlying issues here and I should look into it deeper? It is so strange.

DS does that to me sometimes too, today it was his socks, or sockies as he says, he came running to me, screaming socks off socks off, and then when I took them off he got upset and would not let me have them, I finally got them away from him and he carried on like I took his favorite toy away from him! So I gave them back. I think it's just them forming an attachment to something.

My DD has been doing the same thing and remember ours are all about the same age. She has been pulling her socks off and will come to me telling me "socks off" and then tries to put them back on herself. I think it's an indepence thing for her though.....because when I put them back on for her, she takes them off and tries to put them back on again herself. She tries to get her pants off and for the most part can get her own shirt off. She almost gets really mad when you take her shirt totally off for her.....she wanted to do it. Try asking him to help you take it off. We quit the onsies - she loves a seperate shirt and pants......again must be an indepence thing. She loves to pull up her shirt and tell you she can see her "belly".....it's cute really!
