I have a metallic taste in my mouth all the time now. And of course the GERD or I wouldn't be on here. ;) But even when I am taking the meds. (OTC) and feel pretty good, it is still just as bad. The only time I don't notice it is when I am eating. Otherwise it is ALWAYS there during waking hours.

On another note, has anyone tried the Magnesium/Calcium idea on the sticky here? I am sick of the meds, and just started this yesterday, but feel my SX's already coming back, having just finished a box of Prilosec OTC. :eek: Maybe I need to give it more time.

Another question, can ulcers feel similar to GERD? Anyone here had one?

I just happened to read up on this because I am going in for a scope in both ends soon. Turns out an ulcer can mimic the symptoms of GERD. Who knew? Another symptom was bloating after eating. I woud go to dr. if I were you and tell your concerns. The metallic taste could be blood.

Nope, not blood, trust me, I would know if that were the case.

I heard the mettalic taste could be blood. I hope it is. It is a lot more likely to go away. But since I have throat problems, it is more likely to be acid.

The metalic taste is definitaly acid. I have had both acid and blood, but the blood you can see in your sputum. I have had the metalic taste almost daily for the past fifteen years.

Just FYI: people who reflux BILE (I may be 1 of them) are said to experience a "metallic" taste.

But sometimes I just don't know what the difference would be between a bile and acid taste - different metals? Maybe we should specifiy "aluminum" or "steel" taste! :dizzy: :D

But would bile be more in keeping with a gallbladder issue, or could that still come from reflux? I do also have some discomfort in that area as well. Not bad, but it's there.

does anyone know a real cure for this reflux??? i have metalic taste. throat erosion, throat spasms when i drink a cold drink,( hurts like h-ll) acid burning both ends. GI bleeding. can anyone help ???

Doesn't have to be with GB problems. I have some bile leaking backward into my stomach (very very rare without having had gut surgery 1st), who knows why; weak pyloric sphincter? From there, it can reflux just as anything in your gut can reflux up.
