hey just wondering if anyone knows much about the vaccine Prevnar for infants. My son (15 months) had some blood work done and the immunologist said his immune system was low and that he is not responding to his Prevnar vaccine. He has put him on Zyrec(chronic hives) and a long term antibiodic. He also will have a differnt pneumococcal shot and then be rechecked.

My question is , if he doesnt respond to this next shot, can this be leading to something else? What does this all mean exactly?

My son who is eight was given the pnumovax twice to see if his body responds to pnuemoccal. Basically to see if hemakes antibodies against certain bacteria. He does not. This means he has an immune deficiency. He is currently getting an IV every three weeks to see if his body will begin to make anitbodies on it's own. If your son begins to make his own antibodies than the boost of the vaccine helped him..
