View Full Version : Migraine Experts - Advice or Opinion Wanted

I'm preparing for my next neuroto appointment. I've been a little down having this condition about 2 years now. I almost feel like why should I even bother with another useless appointment.

Anyway, my question is, if my condition were caused by migraine, and it started out with severe headpain (after an ear infection), then over time why has it lessened in pain severity? I still have other symptoms, head pressure, funky ear stuff, mild dizziness, horrible tinnitus, etc. If it were migraine, can the actual pain just lessen or stop over time? I don't believe I just developed a tolerance to pain. I do know you can have migraine without pain, but if there was pain at one time for a long time, can the pain just stop in migraine?

Your advice/opinion on this subject would be appreciated.

Thanks much - Gloria

Hi Gloria,

Having been dealing with my head symptoms for 12 years now, I can appreciate how down you are feeling.

I have been informally diagnosed with MAV (Migraine Associated Vertigo). I am sure you've read many of my posts, as your user name is very familiar to me.

With something like MAV, you can have vertiginous symptoms WITHOUT the headache, meaning, without the pain.

Remember that "migraine" means "poor blood flow". It does NOT mean "headache".

When a person is dealing with migraine issues, it is more vascular in nature, usually resulting in the spasming or contracting of blood vessels. This CAN lead to headache pain, but sometimes these contractions can cause other symptoms (like your woozy ones) without any headache or pain at all.

And these symptoms can change despite having other related symptoms. So yes, you can experience migraine symptoms without the head pain/ache.

I hope this helps. xo
