I am about to begin IMRT for PC. Are there dietary or other ways to prevent or ameliorate the side-effects of incontinence, rectal poblems, tiredness. I welcome any tips or experiences. Thank you in advance.

Sponsor shs50 12-04-2006, 11:43 AM The skill level and experience of the practitioner administering the treatment usually offers the best chance of avoiding or minimizing side effects. Having it done in a major teaching institution of excellance where they have a high volume of procedures is your best assurance that your radiation/oncologist has the skills and experience necessary to achieve the best results. A recent article in the NY Times warned of specialty practice groups who acquire Their own IMRT unit because its so profitable to own the equipment. I would not trust a private practitioner outside of a major teaching center. |
