hello,

I have been dx with postural tachy (orthostatic hypotension) but I also am awakened by tachy frequently as well. Can this nighttime tachy be related to the postural type? I also have ectopics as well. (They are all scary!) I have fibromyalgia and I know this can caause autonomic nervous system disorder, which can really be what's behind all this. My echo, stress, and ekgs back in august all normal (this can't change in 4 months can it?). And if the tachys are related can they all just be corrected with just drinking more water and taking more salt??? Thanks for any avice or ideas.

My ectopics and flutters usually happen in the late afternoon and night and very seldom in the morning. Does this mean anything?? Thanks again.

meee... well what do you know i finally found someone else that has postural tachycardia!!! I have posted a lot on here about this and the topic of high salt diet and extra salt, but no one seemed to really know much about this. I have had postural tachycardia for quite some time. I have tried salt for many months, varying amounts, but have not had success with it. I have found that the only thing to help is to stay extremely hydrated. I drink between 1 -2 liters of gatorade a day both for the fluid and the salt (the sugar sucks though). I have recently been in and out of the hospital with other issues (like not eating) and in the process my cardiologist and I have decided its the hydration that controls my tachycardia not the salt. Although he thinks i might need a little salt to help retain the fluid. As for the nighttime tachycardia, I dont have that, I only get it as soon as my feet hit the floor. I would think they could be related however have you had a sleep study?? Do you snore??? A lot of people get tachycardic at night due to lack of oxygen due to obstruction or apnea. Might be something worth looking into. Hope that helps ya.
