I have absolutely no idea how this happened, but I've lost 20 pounds in a month. I only eat one meal a day, and have been on that schedule for quite a while. Except, last year I would eat lunch and two snacks a day, also a little before I wake up. Now all I eat is dinner. Maybe an occasional snack over the week, but it's unlikely. I can't believe that I've lost 20 pounds in just one month. I went to the doctor in OCt and I weighed 180. Now I weigh 161 (another dr. visit.)

I think you've answered your own question....
you're only eating dinner everyday?? so basicly you're surviving off say 600 calories a day? thats why you've lost the weight, believe me

hi,
its good that you lost 19lbs in a month, but becareful with the way your dieting, that can be bad to lose that much that fast, but if this is the first time you ever lost that much in this amount of time, I think it won't hurt anything, as for as going into starvation mode.... you probably have lost a lot of water /fluids..along with some fat,.....if you don't mind can you figure out just how many calories your eating at your dinner meal?
if you continue to lose your weight at this pace besure and exercise for tone/muscle and maybe take some multi vitamins.
I think its amazing just how different our bodys are.
Good Luck to ya.

Hi parallel,
I agree with chevyman...be very careful. While you may indeed have lost that much weight, a portion of that is probably water and maybe even some muscle. That's not to take away from the fact that you seem very dedicated to do what it takes to succeed!
You don't want to lose muscle mass and go into starvation mode. That, in the end, will cause you to stop losing weight entirely. After a few more weeks, a good goal is 1-2 pounds per week.

Hm. I haven't been trying to lose weight. I just stopped eating at work.

I think you should eat more. Great, you lost weight, but what else? muscle mass? Your barely eating 600 (if its a big junk food meal) and your body needs more calories to function. If your life really THAT busy that you can't eat a banana for breakfast, or a pb&j for lunch? Sometimes I eat a small breakfast at 9am and then am not hungry until dinner, but I always make sure I eat 1000 calories (at least) a day. Maybe this is okay for you, but eventually your body will respond to the lack of food.

I wasn't like praising weight loss as everyone here seems to think. I'm wondering if it's normal is all. I'm concerned with that factor. I don't care if I gain or lose. I eat a little bite of something when I wake up, like maybe a few cookies or something. I'll go to work and I don't eat there, but when I go home I have a full fledged meal. Three course.
