Ok my daughter is 3 weeks a couple days ago she was being so fussy then abotu a dayn half she was fine now today shes being so fussy again all day long she pretty much cries if shes not being held even then shes still crying she can be consoled but this is so unlike her and she didnt sleep very good last night was beign awake and fussy most of the night. Her formula was recently switched from similac advance to similac isomil because the other was just makign her gassy and no pooping, she started pooping fine on isomil except the past few days hasnt really been pooping. I thought isomil was supposed to help with fussy babys!! ugh does anyoen have any ideas? By the way i gave her gripe water but that didnt really have an affect.

I use 'Similac Isomil Soy' and it has helped my fussy baby! I also learned to 'swaddle' her and then put her in the 'baby papasan' to settle down and sleep.

As far as pooping, if you solely use formula, they don't always poop everyday and seem to go for days without.....and when they do, they are somewhat constipated.....

What I do is bend my daughters legs ( like the birthing position ..lol) while I am changing her for about 6 minutes and wipe her bottom and then sometimes this stimulates her to go ......and does she ever go! Sometimes she has 4 or 5 bowel movements!! I think it all gets built up after awhile....and she screams and pushes like crazy....poor girl.....

Also, you could use a warm compress on her bottom and that might stimulate her to go too~ I think the key is to be patient and help her by putting her legs up to allow the pressure to help have her bm~

Oh, I have found that breastmilk does not cause the constipation like formula does......I give my dd 2 bottles of formula a day and the rest breastmilk.....
Breastmilk is sooooo much easier on the little babies bellies.....I wish I could do Breastmilk only......but, my dd demands so much~

Try to remember that she is only 3 weeks old and everything is so new and difficult for everyone. Babies at that age are fussy and they don't poop every day. Also, babies that age can cry on average for 3-4 hours (if you add it all up) in a 24 hour period. Try to be patient with her and remember that if one day is good, it doesn't mean the next day will be good! It took me a while to realise that, but it sure made me less of a control freak when I finally submitted to not having any control over if it was going to be a good day or bad day. You'll find eventually that the good days come more frequently than the bad days and then you'll know you're coming out the other end :D

HI there. I am in the same boat you are and have discovered something WONDERFUL - white noise!

My DS will be 4 weeks old and weeks 2-3 were hell for me. I just figured they never slept very well and were always fussy.

I was told to get the DVD, "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and in it, the doctor talks about how white noise helps babies sleep. Well, we play the CD in his room at night and during nap time, and BOY - what a difference.

I also have to prop my son up to sleep b/c he is gassy and we think has some problems with digestion. He sleeps in his papasan chair - which is in his crib.

Your daughter may be gassy since the formula change and may also benefit from some background noise.

I had a screamer for a few months after he came home (he spent the first 3 months in the hospital). We found Enfamil Gentlease. Man, has it been a lifesaver. The proteins are partially broken down for easier digestion. Also, if she is colicky, Hyland's makes a colic tablet (it is an herbal remedy). I used to put one or two in each bottle. They eased his tummy as well. I liked gas drops here and there, but that is medication, so you may want to check with the doc before using it. I had a very sick, cranky, clingy babe so alot of what I went through doesn't apply to most people. But I like to let others know what did work for us.

i have three boys and one 3 weeks they all where fussy i used gripe water i would of never made it with out it it works great they can also go thought this up to six months try wrapping baby up tite. good luck:angel:

i have a 4 week old who also cries after feeding.....at times.....

how do i know if she's crying due to still being hungry or being gassy?

she only poops once a day and our ped told us that's fine as long as she pees at least 6x a day.

my ds is on similac advance.
