I am a post surgical patient, and was wondering if anyone has ever tried Nutri System (your take on the program) and does anyone know if it is ok for a person who is healing from back fusion surgery?

I've heard from other message boards that people don't generally like the taste of the nutri system foods. There's a high concentration of soy, just as with the jenny craig foods, so it's not that great.
If you are able to just buy week-to-week, maybe just buy a week's worth and see if you like it first. Then you can decide if you like it or not.
If you can't tolerate soy, such as myself, then it may not be a good option for you.
There's also another one called Seattle Sutton's that is supposed to be better. It's more fresh foods and less of the preservative-based stuff that nutrisystem and jenny craig do.

Hi, I have been on Nutri System for 10weeks and have lost 18 1/2lbs! I would highly recommend it. I am 55yrs old, 5ft 3in and started at 149lbs. I figure 120 or so , but I dont really feel like I am on a diet even now. The only time I am hungry is in the evenings because that was my snack time. I happen to like most of the food. Only the lunches were a problem and I found some items there that I like. Plus you still need to supplement with dairy, fruits, salads, veggies and protein. It really works though and I am sure you would do fine. I dont really exercise and am still losing.

I've decided to give it a whirl.
I need to get weight off in order for my back to support me better. I figure I need to lose about 40 #. That would put me back to my preinjury weight (injured 5 years ago). Then maybe an extra 10 # to get me down to a weight that I haven't seen since high school. Wish me luck, I need this right now!
I think that I've prayed for myself to loose weight ever since I was 13. But this time, its totally on me. I will have to do it for me.

I tried it. Its nasty. Made me have to run to the bathroom about 10 minutes after eating. I see why people lose weight on it!!

I followed it faithfully and lost only 11# in 10 weeks. Some of it taste ok and some taste awful. It just depends on the person. I had read the discussion boards on Nutri System and everyone there(seems to) have such good results. What works for some doesn't for others.

Babs, did you try NutriSystem and if so how is it going? I also am recovering from back fusion surgery, anxious to hear your opinion. brenwill
