Hello everbody reading this. I've posted an lurked many times in recent years. I'm under a new name now since I had to re-register and I forgot my previous user names. Anyways the reason why I'm post is that I need opinions on something bothering for the last two days, Not sure if this is the right thread for this.

For the past couple days I've been feeling sick. I started off with a fever late Thursday/early Friday. It seemed to hit when there was an ice storm. It's been with me since. It usually goes up and down from the 100dgree range to the 102 degree range. Last night it got to 103-104 until I took two Tylonels. Since Friday nigth evening I have had diarrhea every two -three hours. I don't rally have any stomach pains or anything like that. What could this possibly be? I went to the doctor, had some blood tests and stool tests. The blood tests seemed to show elevated white blood cell counts and also some mild dehydration. They actually reccommedned staying in the hospitat over night. I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted to go. They said the dehydration level was on the highor low level of normal. They said I could also then go home, rest, take tylonel, Immodium, and go to the emergency room if I get worse.

Does this sound like it's anything concerning? I'm actually scared right now.

An elevated white count means your body is fighting an infection. They must have felt it was serious if they wanted to keep you overnight but, since you chose to go home you must drink alot of fluids. I would suggest at least 8-10 glasses a day in the form of water, juice , soups etc. Gatorade would also be a good choice for replacing electrolytes which you are losing with the diarrhea. If you are unable to maintain your fluid needs or if your symptoms worsen then please go back to the hospital as they suggested.

Thanks for the response and helpful info.

In your opinion, how long do you think this sickness can last? For me it's been about 3 days.

Mari586 had some good advice. However I would try to limit the gatorade because the sugars could cause more diarrhea, Try propel instead. In terms of the electrolyte balances make sure you eat bananas (potassium) and the soup (sodium). If you do drink juices stick to white grape juice. This what they give children with diahrrea problems, less gastric upset. It seems you have the touch of the stomach flu. If it doesn't get significantly better in the nest few days, I would suggest going to the ER to get intravenous fluids...you will feel A WHOLE LOT BETTER!!!!!!:)
