I'm 35 and started BC pills for the first time on November 20th. I had a colpo the same day, but the nurse told me it was o.k. to start on that Monday since I had my period the week before. So I did. I took them about the same time every day (they didn't explain much..just gave me the box) I didn't know they were so time sensitive. Anyway...i took them about the same time every day except Saturday (6th pill) I took it about 5 hours late. On time Sunday...started spotting Monday then Monday night...way heavy...severe cramping like no other....I've never had problems with period before at all. so, i was scared too...called doc...said get in warm bath water...just a reaction to being late. I went heavy for next four days...read alot about BC but kept taking pill on time....then stopped on Wednesday...I thought to myself..I was regular before...been married 5 years and doing fine with other methonds (natural) because I was so regular and now I've gone and screwed it up! So...it's Sunday..I start heavy again...clotting and again with the severe cramps. 1200mg of Motrin later..I'm at a moderate ache. Does anyway know if this is normal? Is it just a reaction to the hormones or should I call my doctor tomorrow? Sorry for long post....

Yaz is pretty low hormone, so if you aren't exact with taking it, you can have breakthrough bleeding. You may need to try Yasmin instead, or some other pill with a little higher hormone level. After adapting to them you probably will be fine. But you haven't screwed anything up - if you stop the pills, you will return to your normal cycle. But maybe talk to your dr about a higher level of hormones and give it some time.

I'm 34 and started taking BC for the first time in May. I'm also on Yaz. It's unfortunate that your Dr. didn't tell you anything - it would have saved you some unnecessary stress. My Dr. told me that the first month on Yaz I would feel horrible. Odds were I would spot every day. She was right about spotting / bleeding throughout the whole 1st pack. I didn't feel so bad other than crappy bcuz of the period. On the 2nd pack everything was back to normal. Different people react differently. There was a great thread a few months back on yaz. But the first month was tough. What kept me going was the perks. The most important perk for me was that once my body adjusted to yaz, I could skip periods. Dr. told me it was safe to have one period every 3 mnths. Four periods a year!!!!!!!!! I've been doing it & it is great!!! You start off slow. First 3 months you take the pack as directed, then next two months skip the white pills, next pack normal, then 3 mnths skip white pills & so on. Hope this helps

Thanks. It does help. I felt horrible and was fine before...so I quit them. It wasn't worth it to me. I just thought it would be easier. And you are right, if I had known what to expect, it might have been different!

Hey your not alone. I took yaz for like 2-3 months this year, and it made me feel horrible. It made me really depressed, and I did not feel like myself. It really scared me, needless to say I quit them.
