Hi there to all!

I am new to this website and new to weight loss! So have a few questions that I would like your advise about, if that’s ok?

1. How long do I have to exercise before I start burning fat?

2. Does it have to be vigorous exercise?

3. What’s better, cardiovascular or muscle building exercise, for burning fat?

4. What is a reasonable goal amount of weight loss for a month for the average person?

5. Is it good to eat before or after exercise?

6. How many calories should I be eating a day to lose weight?

Thank you so much in advance for the advise!

andy,

1. You burn both fat and carbohydrate from the moment you start exercising.

2. No, but the more vigorous (defined by heart rate) the exercise, the more FAT you burn...the heart is the main fat burner in the body. Brain and muscle prefers carbohydrate.

3.Cardiovascular exercise burns fat more readily; strength training burns carbs...and builds more muscle.

4. Unless obese, I think a resaonable, healthy and sustainable rate is to lose a pound a week...4 or 5 a month.
