My DS is a little over 4 months old and this past week has been HORRIBLE!! he has always liked to be held, but if you lay him him down and give him toys, he will entertain himself for quite a while...but this past week, it seems to really hurt him when he tries to eat, he grunts really loud and turns red and cries..and if you lay him down, he screams his little lungs out until you pick him up...he will ONLY be okay if you walk around with him..even when he does eat, you have to walk around with him..if you sit with him, thats when he grunts and turns red and screams...some people tell me they think hes teething because he has to be chewing on something at ALL times! whether its his fingers, my fingers, his binki or toys...if nothing is in his mouth hes really NOT happy!! but 4 months seems a lil young to be teething?..im just getting so frustrated having to try and keep him calm ALL day(unless hes sleeping..thats the only time hes not fussy)..and the dad isnt around so im doing this all on my own and im about ready to lose my mind! and if it could possibly be teething (i felt his gums but i dont feel anything) any suggestions on what i could give him for pain relief?!..any help would be very much appreciated!! thanks a bunch!:)

Yes, it is possible for him to be teething at 4 months. My DS started teething at about 4 months, but didn't actually break the first tooth until a little over 5 months. I used the Hyland's teething tablets. They dissolve under the tongue. It is an herbal remedy, I found mine at a neighborhood drug store. He may be teething, but you probably won't be able to actually feel the tooth until a day or two before it breaks through.

Sara, we must have the same kid! We have been having all the same issues with ds (4 months 1 week). I can't feel any teeth either, but the drool comin' out of this kid is unreal and he is chewing on his favorite giraffe now. And he still hasn't gone back to sleeping through the night...I don't have much to offer in the way of suggestions, but know you aren't alone!

my son broke his first 2 bottom teeth out at 3 months and then his 4 top ones all at the same time at about 7 months but they took a long time to come in and his bottom side 2 at 9 months and now he is 13 months and has 2 molars coming in the back one on each side and the bottom ones are starting to come ....he doesnt do anything half way i guess...lol
but i am glad they all come at once instead of one at a time cause that way they r nin and over with till the next batch
good luck and keep the advil coming as well as the oragel and another thing my son likes was the soft tooth bruch that u put on ur finger...he really liked that massaging his gums
