My gf has taken her combinational pill perfectly for a month by got ill and spent a night in the hospital. This caused her to miss her last pill (The 21st Pill). After she got out of the hospital she did not take the pill as soon as she remembered. And due to her missing the pill her period started a day early. From what I found on the internet, she is still protected. Problem is, is that she started her next pack on the normal day she would of. This leaves an extra day in the time between the end of her other pack and the start of her new pack. Is she still protected or is there a "significant" loss of protection?

If you miss a pill in the last week of taking it, it is advisable to carry on taking them and then go onto the next pack -take them all without a break. If you increase the 7 day break the process of ovulation could start. It would be safer to use condoms as well as bc at least for the next seven pills.
This should bring her protection back to normal as it takes another 7 days for the ovaries to become dormant again.
