must be a yaz thing... i never had cramps with periods before and then i took yaz. i felt like someone was taking a melonball scraper to my utereus then clumps were falling out. worst experience ever. i took 2 months of it and gave up. im not sure what you on yaz for but for me it just wasnt strong enough and seemed messed up with the fact that it was suppost to help woman with pmsing things likecramps and it only gave me pms stuff!!
are you bleeding aswell??
im sure things will even out though, your suppost to do the whole 3 month game. Its a lot for your body to be juiced up with fake hormones, sometimes your system is not thrilled with it at first.

Did you have really heavy bleeding and cramps before you went on the pill? And you only found that it got worse after you started on the pill? Because it might be something else entirely that will not be fixed from taking the pill.
If you potentially have fibroids, polyps or cysts in your uterus, then no amount of synthetic hormones is going to make the pain any less or make the bleeding any less. The only thing that will help is to have it all removed.
I would suggest that you make another appointment with your gynecologist, preferably as soon as your period is over, and have them do a saline ultrasound. That will be your best bet to find out whether you have any of these things. If your uterus is clear and there's nothing in there, then I would keep persisting with your gynecologist that you want some answers and you will not stop bothering them until they give you some.
Unfortunately, with health care situations, it's up to us, the patients, to take a more proactive role with our health care. The doctors won't always actively pursue other avenues of testing unless we request it. So, you have to discuss with them and tell them flat out that you want more tests done to find out what's REALLY going on.

It may be because you started taking the pill after you ovulated (I am guessing since you have only been on it for a week and are in your period now). After ovulation your progesterone levels rise and then slowly taper off, eventually triggering your period. When you all of the sudden start taking progesterone after you ovulate, you raise the already higher blood level. Your levels don't drop off as they normally would after ovulation, so your body gets kind of confused and this confusion can cause a longer, more symptomatic period. If you start the pill before you ovulate you can potentially avoid this. Keep taking your pills as you are. You may or may not have a period at the end of the current pack you are on, but by the second pack you should have your periods in sync with your pill pack.

Thanks everyone. I am going to try the birth control for a couple of months but if no change I am heading back to the gyno and demanding some tests and answers. This healthboard thing is great I am glad I joined!
