If I don't get rid of this cough and congestion I think I am going to losemy mind. I am on week 3 of something that started with a fever the weekend before Thanksgiving. I had a fever for a whole weekend and then woke up the following Monday feeling better. By Weds my nose and head were exploding with congestion, being a Hoiday week I didn't go to the Dr until the Folowing Mon. When I went my DR thought had a secondary sinus infection and gave me 5 days of Ketek, which did nothing. I took my last one on Friday, and now it has moved to my chest. I went to an immediate care center Sunday. They did an xray to make sure it wasn't in my lungs. They ended up saying all they seen was inflammation. They said that viral bronchitis is going around really bad and can last 4-6 weeks:eek: They gave me prednisone and albuterol. They also gave me an antibiotic just in case it doesn't go away on its own:confused: I don't know if I should take it or wait awhile? How can one person have this much mucus? Has anyone else had this last this long? Also the antibiotic she gave me is called doxicyclin has anyone ever taken this before? I am petrified of antibiotics ever since they gave me levaquin one time :dizzy: Thanks so much for any advice and sorry so long and so many questions. I get exteme anxiety when i am sick!

Sounds very much like what I have now since Thanksgiving. I am taking Mucinex and it seems to help.

I think I have the same thing! It started about 2 weeks ago. I had a fever, sore throat acheyness and all of that for only 2 days, then it went away for about 3 or 4 days. Then I got really bad congestion in my sinuses and now a really bad cough that just won't quit! I've had it for a week or so now. Sometimes I feel like it's getting better, but then BAM! It gets bad again.

I have the most annoying cold I have ever been exposed to. I became sick around 11/15 with a cold that was fever, sore throat and earache. Around 11/25 I was feeling better then relapsed around 11/28 and then for one day i had a bad runny nose fever and congestion. Well now i dont have a fever no runny nose, earache, or sorethroat. What I do have is phlegm and my sinus draining into my chest which does cause me to cough some. Ive been five days with just the phlegm and some coughing.

That is sounding a lot like what I am dealing with right now. I just thought it was stress due to two tests I have to take in a couple of hours. I had been losing restful sleep because of them and so I think this whole thing was stress. So maybe not. Please let me know if anything makes it better.

Get off the antibiotics, they do nothing for viruses. Get on probiotics, they will strengthen your immune system. Do not eat any grains or sugar.Eat raw foods as best you can: veggys, fruits, milk, butter, cheese. A candida yeast clense would be a good start along with the probiotics.Get them at a good health food store.Take 1 whole bottle of probiotics in a few days. My lady works and brings home colds and flu all the time, and I am never sick.do it.

I finally got over my "cold", it was with me for almost 3 weeks! It really sucked, but I'm sure glad it's over now....and it could have been worse, so I don't want to complain too much :p
