I had a scope done 2 weeks ago, and I got my results yesterday. My dr said I have a hiatal hernia, and the rawest, most inflamed esophagus he has seen. Therefore, I am told I really should have the Nissen Fundliplication (forgive my spelling) surgery done. I have been on all sorts of meds for years, and am having horrible chest pain from the hernia, so I agree that I need some relief. Plus they said it's a good time since my husband is temp off work. Having said all that, I am terribly scared of it all. I have to have a repeat scope done the first of January to see what exactly needs to be done. So obviously I plan to ask questions at my post-scope appt, but in the meantime, if anyone has gone through this surgery, what are your thoughts on it? I am in so much pain and need help!
