I woke up this morning with chest pain and coughing. My son has been coughing for about a week now, so I'm sure he brought it home. Whenever I get a cold, it quickly turns into broncitis (sp) and/or an upper respiratory infection. I've heard that Whiskey works wonders when you are sick. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this, and if it works. Or, if anyone has another suggestion of what works quick.

Thanks!!

I have heard people say that...a Hot Tottie? Not sure if if works though.

Hmm, I think what it does it (1) Warm you inside which makes you feel kinda fuzzy and content, and (2) Sedate you slightly so you feel more relaxed and stuff.

Before trying whiskey, be sure and check with doctor if it is compatible with other meds you may be taking.

Whiskey helps to sedate a person and as a result sedates the cough too.

This was an old time remedy back in the 30's, 40's and earlier when people did not go to the doctor for the cold or flu. They weathered out colds/flu back then without medications.

Check the labels of any over the counter meds you are taking. Acetaminophen (AKA, Tylenol) is not compatible with alcohol- they can be hepatotoxic (poisonous to the liver), especially when taken together.
