my ds was born at 6pounds 15 by12 weeks he had doubled his birth weight to 14.2 pounds. so it sounds like your ds has done the same over a slightly loner period of time he sounds fine to me. of course if your baby was born a good weight he will be heavier now. at 4 months ds was 16 pounds if that helps reassure you my ds is now 9 months and around 22 pounds and perfectly fine on around the 75th centile. your ds weight gain will eventually slow right down. remmeber your baby is growing at the quickest rate of his life right now.:)

I know how you feel my DS is 20lbs at almost seven months people won't quit telling me he's a big boy. They say things like he's such a chunk and wow he's huge. Or when I tell him how old he is they do a double take like somethings wrong with him and proceed to tell me how chubby he looks. It annoys me as well.

lol people have also been telling me ds look 1 since he was 7.5 months i think the fact he has a massive mop of hair adds to their ideas lol

There is nothing wrong with your ds weight. My ds was quite big too and then when he went in at 10 months he started slowing down on his weight, he is still big but thinning out and just getting longer. My ped. said at 6 months babies start taking after genetics more. Don't worry about what people say. My friend and I have babies the same age and our other friend would always say how big my baby was and how small my friends baby was. They are now 11 months old and pretty much the same size.

My dd was born 9lbs 6oz and at four months she was 17lbs 2oz. Her six month visit is coming up and I'm convinced she is close to 20lbs. I know how you feel about the comments. People are always surprised when I say how old she is because they mistake her as being a least two months older than she is. I would like to tell some women that their babies are scrawny or ugly, but that really wouldn't accomplish anything!

When you give birth to a bigger baby they are going to be on the higher end of the spectrum as they grow. As long as they grow at a steady rate and the pediatrician doesn't have any concerns then there is no need to worry. My dh and I both tall. He is super thin now, but he was built just like my dd when he was that age. I love her chubba belly and her thunder thighs! I think they make her extra ticklish!

Your babies weight sounds perfect!!! They need that extra chub for when they get so squiggly and squirmy that they never sit still. They really thin out towards the end of the first year so i wouldn't worry especially if you are breastfeeding. (breastfed babies tend to thin out a bit more than forumula fed babies.)

DS was born 8 pounds, at his 4 month check up he weighed 15 3/4 pounds and recently when he went in for a follow up on his ear infection---he weighed 18 pounds at 5 months old. :) He's a little monster. :) He's not really fat, he's just really LONG! :)

You know, sometimes I think people forget the rate at which babies grow. My son (at 30+6 weeks) was born at 4lb4oz. He stayed under 10 pounds until he was 3 months old due to severe illness. Once he got out of the hospital he took off. By 6 months he was 15 pounds and he just had his 9 month check up and he is 18.5 lb. His ped told me for his actual age he is in the 25th percentile and for his corrected age (7 months) he is right on track. I still get comments on how big he is, even though he really isn't. I am always getting, "Wow!!! What a big boy!!!" I'm thinking, no he's not, but I just nod and go on.

Your babe sounds perfectly healthy. I work with a girl who has a 20 pound, 28 inch 4 month old......Imagine the comments she gets. We just say, he's REALLY healthy!!!!
