i'm 17 and not sexually active, never have been. For the past week or so i've had vaginal itching and pain when urinating. I went to the doctors and they said that i had a mild UTI. But now i'm not too sure if thats just it. Now i have lower abdominal and lower back pain. I did some research and it is a common symptom of some STDs. Is it possible i could have one? When i was at the doctors they asked if i had either of those symptoms, but at that time i didn't have either, and she also asked if i was sexually active or been in a pool or jacuzzi, which i havent. Whats wrong? Can you get STDS from other things? does it sound like an std?

Sounds like a UTI...don't worry...I assume they gave you an antibiotic?

An STD is contracted through sex. Bodily fluids carry those from one person to another. If you haven't had sex, it's highly unlikely that you have one.

Hot tubs and other warm, moist environments are breeding grounds for all sorts of unwanted organisms, but it's not common to contract such a problem this way.

If your symptoms don't clear up with the antibiotics, keep going to the doctor until you find the answer. But relax. People with STDs didn't get them in a hot tub.
