Can anyone out there give me some input? My mother is 72 y/o. She has been in & out of hospitals for the past 6-7 months, & at least 12 times or more in this time period. She started falling alot & complaining of pain all the time. None of the medicine she took seemed to help. One day she fell asleep & my dad could'nt get her to wake up, she was hospitalized & was thought to have had a stroke. Also, she was in a coma for 2 days. Her Dr.'s ran all kinds of tests MRI's, CT scans & found nothing. We thought it was her meds & that she may have ODed but this wasn't the case. Her Dr. even cut back on all her meds & stopped a few. This seemed to help, but every few weeks since that happened, it all starts over again. Today she was admitted to the Hosp. My dad says she's been fine for the past few days, but last night she said she didn't feel just right so she layed down. This morning same situation, he could'nt get her to wake up. She was incoherent, her eyes were glazed, & she was seizing. She had a MRI today & her results are still the same. No signs of a stroke, heart attack, no bleeding in the brain. Can anyone help me? Any input would be appreciated! Amy

I can understand your frustration and concern, espescially when everything points to something within the brain yet nothing shows up.have they done whats called an MRA on her at all?this is done the same way as an MRI but instead of looking at all structures within the brain, this just highlights only the arterial structures alone.this was the only test that actually showed my brain aneurysm.it all depends on just where it is located.its worth a shot at this point.something is very obviously causing some pretty profound neuro issues here and you need to find the source.just what actual meds was she on and what is she on now,and for what conditions?

there is a condition called 'sundowners" that shows up in elderly people that causes them to almost completely change in personality but only later in the day? i don't know all the ins and outs only that a freind of mines mom was Dxed with this condition.there could be something similar going on with your mom as well.just a suggestion.try looking that up and see if that possibly sounds like it or may lead you to some other possible neuro condition.i wish i could be of more help to you than this.i wish you luck and hope they can at least find the cause of all her symptoms,i know the "not knowing' can make you crazy when you see someone you love suffering with no explanation for it.hang in there and hopefully some sort of answers will make them selves known soon.let me know how she is doing,K? marcia
