I have a 10 month old little boy who I am trying to break of night time feedings. I have read on trying the water instead or reducing his formula amount every night, but in my case it seems like my son eats most of his formula at night. He is not so interested in formula during the day, only solids. He will eat at least 8oz during the night and sometimes if he wakes up more than once (which he has been doing recently) he will eat another 6-8oz bottle. I feel if I try giving him water or reducing his formula I am neglecting my sons needs. So my question to all of you is, how much formula should a 10 month old be taking in a 24 hour period?

Hi Jenni!
My son will be 10 months on the 12th. Right now he takes a 5 oz. bottle as soon as he wakes up along with his breakfast (about 1/4 c. rice cereal with a jar of fruit). He gets another bottle for lunch (8 oz.) along with a little protein (normally chicken or turkey), eats a vegetable and more rice cereal for dinner and then right before bed gets another 8 oz. bottle. So, he's taking in about 21 oz. of formula a day. I have no idea if that is a lot or a little, but he is growing just fine and isn't waking at night out of hunger. Hope that helps! :)

My son will be 10 months on the 22nd. He takes 22-28 ounces of formula a day and eats cereal for breakfast, veggies for lunch and a combination for supper. He is growing well and does not take nighttime feedings. Good luck.

My son will be 11 months on the 12th. We weaned at 10 months & he gets anywhere from 15-25oz of formula a day plus about 15-20oz of "real food" plus some snacks. He's a big boy (23 pounds) and a good eater.
Is your son eating a lot of solids at this point? I think the amount of formula totally depends on the baby, but I do think if they get full during the day it's easier for them to sleep longer at night w/out needing food. However, sometimes my DS will go two or three nights in a row without eating & then have a night where he has a screaming fit til he gets a bottle? I just try to roll with it as best I can :) Good luck!
