I had the start of a cold/flu Wednesday, and I feel much better today. (Friday) When I get sick, I'm usually down for several days, even a week. I went to the health food store and got some "Cold Stop" tea by Bija and some Cold PM both of these are tea, and I think they work great. I drank about 3 or 4 cups of the Bija cold stop, and 2 or 3 of the Cold PM since Wednesday night. My colds and or flu usually turn into broncitis (sp) or a bad upper respiratory infection. Anyway, just thought I'd share this if you want to try it. Also a Vicks Vaporizer with the liquid medicine that goes in it helps too.

I have had super results from the Zicam: As soon as I start feeling cold symptoms, I start "snorting" Zicam and usually by the next day, I am back to normal. I am a teacher, and therefore exposed to who knows what? Eergh...Tuesday pm, I felt a sore throat coming on, my neck was sore, and I had swollen nodules under my armpit. I started the Zicam, just taking a "snort" about as often as I thought of it. Wednesday morning, I just felt normal, except that I still had (and still today-Saturday-do have) swollen pea shaped nodes under my right arm. The cold-like symptoms have gone away. I think that the moisturizing affects of saline nasal solutions, and vaporizers, are probably the most successful in the shortrun. Maybe the homeopathic stuff helps over the long run. Who knows, but in my family of four, I am the one who hasn't had a bad cold yet this winter!

I've heard bad things about Zicam. My mother no longer has a sense of smell due to Zicam. I've heard that many other people have permantely lost their sense of smell because of that too. Personally, I'd like to keep smelling. :-)

Everytime I caught a cold, my grandfather used to make me warm milk and butter (alittle sugar added). I don't know if it was all in my head but it seemed to help everytime.
