Hi. im melissa im 16 and im having a "submuscular ulnar nerve traspostion" on dec. 19. im just wondering what other peoples experiences with this was. Such as; how long were your stitches in, whats the pain like, how long were you in a sling..etc. and what happens during your pre-op testing.
thanks

mel-
I haven't yet had the ulnar transposition, but for pre-op testing, there were some blood test run, a chest x-ray and a stress test on the treadmill. This was for back surgery, so it might be less for the ulnar t. I do know you are put under, so they worry about making sure you wake up well.

Hi Melissa:Had this done as a revision surgery in 02. Didn't have a splint. Started ulnar glide exercises, and was only out of work 10 days. Ice and elevation helped. Had a nerve block and la la juice for anesthesia. Not too uncomfortable. Good luck, Maggie

I had it done about 10 yrs ago. Are you sure need this at 16!
I was put under. It took 2 hours, I had a lot of scar tissue. Not much pain. I was in a sling for 6 weeks and told NOT to twist my wrist for 2-3 weeks. I have had no trouble since.
Oh yes, Pre-op. Chest x-ray is pretty standard. stress test only if you are an older/heart patient.
