I had a pap in mid-October, and after many many years of totally normal results, it came back severely atypical. I had a colpo with biopsy 11/20, which showed "CIN 2-3, HSIL extending into endcervical glands, background of low grade intraepithelial lesion with HPV changes." My ECC reads "rare strips of benign endocervical glands and mucus." Any insight into what all this means would be appreciated.
Not surprisingly, the HPV tests came back positive for high-risk HPV, which I never knew I had.
Anyway, my doctor recommended that I have a LEEP AND a D&C, which I did on 12/1. I still have not gotten path results back. Have you ever had a D&C done with a LEEP or known of anyone who has? This seems rather unusual. Do you know why my doc may have thought I needed a D&C too? He just said he wanted to "make sure we got everything." It wasn't until the surgical scheduling nurse said something about how unusual a D&C with LEEP was that I started looking into it and it does seem unusual.
Any ideas what is going on? I hate waiting!! Thanks in advance!
