Hello Everyone:wave:
My son just had a cervical mri, because he had injured his neck over two months ago and has constant pain. Some of the terms I do understand, but not all of them. Could anyone give me their input on this report?
At C3-4 there is diffuse disc bulge. There is mild facet hypertrophy. There is flattening of the ventral thecal sac and mild bilateral foraminal stenosis.
At C4-5 there is disc bulging without focal herniation. There is no significant central or foraminal compromise.
There is prominence of the lingual tonsils as well as the palatine tonsils and the nasopharyngeal soft tissues. In addition. there are slightly prominent jugulodigastric lymph nodes bilaterally as well as a slight increased number of nonelarged lymph nodes in the posterior triangles. Jugulodigastric lymph node on the right measures up to 1.7cm in dimension. Clinical correlation is recommended.
Thank you in advance for any help.

It would appear that he really needs to seek out a good ENT type of doc just to have all of this explained to you correctly.it would appear just from the findings that he has more internal issues going on than c spine ones.this needs much better clarification and thats basically what it states at the bottom of his report.this just needs much more in depth evaluation.i would look at that part of things first before looking into his c spine issues.at least for now.whatever this all means,it could also explain at least some of his pain problem.
once you can get a handle on whats going on within the nasopharynx area and what appears to be in the more retropharyngeal areas(the nodes?),you may not even need to deal with the c spine stuff,at least not for a long time anyway.it doesn't appear he really has anything majorly affecting in the c spine area.more the beginnings of possible problems much further down the road.but i would most definitely get him to an ENT specialist for now anyways.good luck and please keep us posted onhow he is doing,Marcia
