I want to have a baby ASAP but I am really afarid of my anxiety going threw the roof during those 9 months. I hate to take any medications during that time but I know that's not possible for me. Unfortunetly I need to stay on something or I will not be able to cope. I am on Lexapro and Klonopin right now. Are these OK to stay on or will I need to go on something else? What meds did you use? Please any advice would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi there,

I hate to tell you this, but I was told (when I thought I was pregnant) that I would have to stop meds all together..... Now that is from my doc to me, so you should put a call into your gyn/family doc and ask them. I know for sure that benzo's (klonipin) are out and the Rx company that makes paxil just got into the news for saying it was ok to take while pregnant, but now has been linked to birth defects. Paxil and Lexapro are both from the same family of meds- SSRI's.

***Call the doctors office, this is a great advise board but your question should be answered by a doctor because everyone is different and what one woman may have taken while pregnant was a decision made w/the advise of her doctorfor her so it might not be the same thing that your doctor will say in your best interest for you.

After reading what I wrote, it sounds a little snotty,I didn't intend to come across snotty or bossy.... so please don't take it that way:)

Good luck:angel:

I agree you should definitely talk to your Dr!! What my Dr told me is that I could take Lexapro during the first 2 trimesters and then stop it in the 3rd when the brain develops and it was not known to cause any complications. However, I really think that that is a decision you need to talk over with your Dr and get all the facts on and is a personal decision everyone has to make. I have also heard that a lot of pregnant women's anxiety decreases during pregnancy because of different harmones. Good luck to you, I hope you find what works for you!!
