Thanks! dustoffkid 12-11-2006, 01:47 PM No allergies to it, but aspartame (AKA Nutrasweet) has been known to induce headache in me. Titchou 12-11-2006, 02:38 PM I am very sensitive to aspartame. I get the same symptoms as low blood sugar. angelamaria 12-11-2006, 03:09 PM Has anyone suffered any allergic reactions they care to share from "aspartame" the artificial sweetener found in many "diet" products? Please share if you have. Thanks! angelamaria 12-11-2006, 03:11 PM I have eczema really bad on my hands and i've looked at my diet and diet cola and other diet drinks as well as "diet" products are the one common "bad" thing in my diet. has anyone else had any other reactions? dustoffkid 12-11-2006, 03:47 PM I have eczema too- but caused by allergy to nickel and to other things. I don't drink soda, diet or otherwise. I know everyone's different. Have you been tested? angelamaria 12-12-2006, 12:58 PM yes, i was tested ( a skin patch test on my back) I was allergic to formaldahyde and nickel also. where do you have eczema and what do you do to help keep it under control? dustoffkid 12-12-2006, 02:10 PM Pretty much everywhere... my arms and legs are the worst. I use a medicated cream that the allergist gave me, and Aveeno products for everything (even shaving cream and face wash). He also gave me Elidel cream but effects the long term use of that haven't been established yet so I use it sparingly. I use a Band-Aid to cover up the back of the button on my jeans (nickel). ALL gold, no matter the purity, has nickel in it, so I've been looking into replacing my wedding set with a platinum band. I don't wear a watch any more. I don't wear earrings. I take Zyrtec twice a day, because my allergies are so severe. I stay away from things (fabrics) that irritate, like wool and polyester. Above all, hydration. Water and moisturizer. Lots. athena3523 12-12-2006, 11:48 PM I get sick whenever I have any of the fake sugars becuase of food allergies and I break out in hives every where. I found that just avioding things that cause problems works the best even though it gets annoying. angelamaria 12-13-2006, 10:13 AM I didn't know that all gold has nickel in it. Have you tried painting the inside buttons with clear fingernail polish - I've heard some people do that. I too was prescribed Elidel because I didn't want to use anymore steriod creams. I chose not to use it because of the side effects. So I do use the steriod cream sparingly. Trying 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. Also when my legs are soooooo itchy I can't stand it anymore & I know you know what I mean - I take "Benadryl" and it helps. But you can only do that when it's extremly bad because it makes you tired and you can't live on Benadryl. I have found a cream/lotion called "Cerave" and can only be found at pharmacies (not dept. stores) works very well. It has an ingredient called (ceramides - which helps keep the skin moisturized). Most of all it doesn't hurt on really raw skin like some others do. That's big! It costs about $12 - $15. I also use plain old Vaseline. Some of the supposed "Eczema" creams and lotions hurt so bad it's not worth the pain. Try the Cerave- it's good stuff. I've been doing alot of reading about eczema and it seems that you either have an internal (diet) or external (contact or environmental) allergy that sets it off. The trouble is trying to find out exactly what sets it off. I have definately been much better without the "aspartame". Not completely cured, but much better. Keep in touch and let me know if you find any other products that help. Thanks & Happy Holidays! |
