Hello,
When I first looked into treatment for my anxiety and panic attacks I went through more meds than it's possible to remember without a list in front of me.I was working with a few different docs and when the "typical" things precribed for anxiety didn't work well for me they started to move toward the "mood stabalizer" catagory. I eventually was given Topamax, just as I always do, I read up on it before I took it.I have social anxiety,I don't have the fear of dying or that most rare side effect ever reported being something that will happen to me. When I started to stumble over my words I did mention it to the doc,she told me to keep taking it (the topamax) and to keep a diary of anything else that was out of character. I went from stumbling over my words, to mixing up words in sentences,to a total loss for the recolection of even the most common words. To say that this was frustrating is an understatement:dizzy:
Along with the speech issues there became disasociation and depersonalization issues. Very weird feeling,if you have had it you know what I'm talking about.
I finally ended up getting off of it after one of these episodes landed me in the psych ward..... I had the diary with me and the docs took me off the Topamax right then. HOWEVER It has been a little over 4 years since I stopped taking it and I still have a very bad speech issue. My daughter (14) makes fun of me when we're talking and we laugh about it, but I'm wondering if anyone else has or has had a problem with what the medical community creatively named "Topamax Stupid"-that isn't me being sarcastic,it came from the doctors:jester:

If anyone has had this problem or is struggling with it now I would really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks, Becca:dizzy:
