hey everyone. my vision is 20/20. so its not my eyes.
i guess i just have to come to terms with it and stop trying to take a short cut and just do what the docs said and wait it out. it sucks....but could be alot worse

1 year and 5 months......long *** time! but they say the 2 year mark is average so i haven't lost all hope

What does the visual feel like? I have visual problems right now...my symptoms are:

if I move fast eyes seem to be trying to catch up with head
shimmering objects in view
different lighting makes me feel slightly off balance (not going to fall, just lightheaded, "not right")

Just got back from the eye consultant myself, everything checks out ok, bit of nystagmus when eyes are at straining at top corners.
my visual symptoms are if i stamp my foot a bit too hard my vision jumps, sways a bit too much when walking.Difficult to keep eyes on an object if i turn my head quick. When i look up/down right/left vision ok but if i tilt my head left/right my vision seems to react slow and a bit jerkey, same when looking at the floor and tilting head, a bit like momentary vertigo.
It seems to me that my brain is getting confused signals and apparently its not from my eyes.
Waiting still for my inner ear tests, only been waiting six months:rolleyes: but thats the good old British N.H.S.:)
Comeandrelax, 1 year and five months is a long time, i been with this stuff for for 9 months now, never had any real vertigo, just off balance and brain fog and tinnitus.
The visual stuff is quite scary at times,
hope your eye symptoms clear soon, i live in hope with mine, apart from the tinnitus, and eye probs everything else is now ok.
Good luck
Rob.

Hi
My visuals are the same as everyone elses, jumpy vision looking left to right, not so much up and down, when having a bad attack of the dizzies it's a bit like looking out of a rain spotted window, if I move my head to quick it's as though my eyes stay where they were and nothing focuses, driving on the motorway at night is not good with on coming lights, when I stop driving and shut my eyes I can still see the lights flashing at me, does anyone know what I mean? It's all so weird that when your eyes are checked out they all says everything is ok?? I notice more visuals with contact lenses than my glasses and the VRT gaze stabalisation exercises are better without glasses or lenses? I'm 14 months down the line with this now and I think the visual side of things is improving slightly, I hope so anyway!

Trebor, where abouts in the Midlands are you, I waited 5 weeks for my tests on the NHS at Russells Hall Dudley, may be worth you chasing them up??

Lets hope one day we wake up and all these symptoms have disappeared :)

Hi Sheriff56
I live in Stoke on Trent and the waiting list is horrendous, i chased them up and all i got was they had a new computer system installed and it did/does not work right hence the backlog:rolleyes:
If the symptoms dissapeared tomorrow i proberbly think somthing else was wrong because i am beginning to forget what it is like to be "normal";)
You take care,
Rob.

Hi Rob, keep nagging them at the hospital, make a nuisance of yourself and eventually they will give you answers.
I've given up completely on ever feeling normal again, just resigned myself that this is forever now, some days better than others, if I'm wrong then it will be a fantastic suprise. . . . a little like winning the lottery!!;)
Fingers crossed eh!

Jayne...

I wouldn't give up just yet..

I know Subs had terrible visual crap...and it took him 6 months to get over it.

Are you doing gaze stable exercises?

All the best.

Hi Charlotte67, thanks for your support, yup I'm on the gaze stabalisation exercises, as well as balance exercises, doing those for a couple of months now, I think I did start to see a slight improvement, but a stomach bug (still lingering 4 weeks on) has thrown me into decomp and the exercises seem to make it all so much worse.
Off to the sun for 11 days next week so I will get plenty of time to put overtime in on them and de stress, which I think plays a bit part of my problems. Can't wait!!

I think Subs has done well, at the moment I can't ever see the day it all comes to an end for me:confused: But I will persevere, no pain no gain etc.

How are you?
Jayne

hi Jayne
will get onto them tomorrow, you never know, i might just get a date out of them.
You sound a bit down, i get like that somtimes, thinking there will never be an end to this nightmare, a good run or half an hour on the punch bag seems to lift my spirits.
i hate to harp on about the n.h.s. but i feel the constant waiting lists and no dx have taken their tole.
i read you are off to the sun, have a great time and recharge your batterys.
see you
Rob.

Hi Rob, thanks for your concern, a good long walk is what I need, but this stomach thing I have picked up won't let me away from the loo for more than an hour or so, something else making me scared to go out!!
The holiday should do the trick, I'm self employed and my last day off was January 1st (2006) so I think I'm just mega worn, stressed etc. A new years resolution will be to take at least 2 days off every month. I have an e-commerce business and it's full on 24/7, no-one to pay my bills and sick pay so have to keep battling on.

Yup keep on top of them make a nuisance if you have to we need answers even if to tell us what's not wrong, give them a ring and let us know how it goes.
Have a great Christmas and hopefully the new year will bring new health for us all.
Have fun.
Jayne
