The Dr just gave me 20 mg prozac for anxiety symptoms. The side effects look much like the symptoms I have today, trembling, sick stomach, afraid to go anywhere, jittery. Is this gonna help or just give me more problems? Anyone familiar with Prozac? Help! Im always afraid to take new meds. I took Paxil a long time ago and it really messed me up big time. Will this do the same?

Well, I have been through a lot of drugs and Prozac was one that did help! The side effects will go away after a while (but i am NOT a dr) so a lot depends on how you react to it? I think Prozac helped me the best! But it started to fade away! So i was put on other things!
It's funny how the Docs do this! But truly... Some ssri's will help with anxiety!
Good luck

I also took prozac. Medications work on an individual basis. Meaning that what helps you may not help me and visa versa.
I took prozac and it made me very hungry, but did very little for me towards my OCD, depression and social anxiety. I took it until my psychiatrist took me off of it.

I had an unpleasant experience while on prozac. On the whole, anti-depressants are very effective for anxiety.

I have taken prozac, paxil wellbutrin and another that I don't remember the name of. All of them made me worse which is why we tried so many. I can't take any of the "new anti depressents" I do much better with Ativan but it is very addictive. Just tell your doc immediatly if you start feeling worse. That being said I have had other friends who have taken these meds and done very very well. They work for some but not all . Just hang in there and communicate everything to your doc.
