I just visited a chiropracter/applied kinetheiologist yesterday as I haven't gotten any relief from my LPR symptoms from traditional medicine. He told me I had a hiatal hernia and he pulled it out manually. Does anyone else have experience with this? If so, does it return or is it fixed? I am hoping this will help relieve my symptoms! Thanks!

Someone else wrote about this either here or on another forum in the last day or 2.

Anyway, I doubt you will have "permanent" relief. This so-called "hernia" is a permanent oversized opening in your diaphragm. The only way to truly "fix" a HH would be to sew it up into the proper small size, if such a thing could be done (which it can't, apparently). Just think of it as a ripped seam which has been ripped more than it should.

So, while you may be able to temporarily move your stomach below the diaphragm (1 suggested method to help HH is to jump off a chair and land solid on your feet to force stomach downward), the hole remains. So the stomach can still slip up through that oversized hole. The real key is the hole, not where the stomach is.

The doc I saw had me stand against a wall and he manually pulled my stomach downward. I could immediately breathe more deeply. Unfortunately I got a stomach bug the next day and did quite a bit of vomiting, so I can't tell if the overall results are good or not as I'm still recovering from that. I've also heard that vomiting can create a HH, so it may be right back to where it was. I asked at the office if this was a one time fix or if I'd need multiple corrections-he said it could take as many as 4-6, but then was usually fixed. Not sure how to comment on what Ol'Line Rebel says as I don't have a lot of knowledge on HHs. I go back in a few weeks and I'll ask more questions for sure. He also seems to think that a lot of my symptoms are related to previously undiagnosed food allergies. Hey, I'll try anything at this point, so will be going dairy & wheat free for a while to see if anything improves. If you decide to see a chiropracter about a HH, you need one that does applied kintheiology or simply ask to make sure they have experience with HH. I've read other boards/websites where people are very satisfied with their results. Good luck, Skylar
