Hi everyone,
I'm a new member here,so i find this all fasinating, some really interesting comments and i hope i shall be a part of them now, it has made me realise i am not on my own, brief history, i am 40yrs old, married to a saint (he needs to be to deal with all my seizures)!! Nov.1999 had hysterectomy, stopped breathing, 2 months later 1st seizure, had all the usual tests, CT Scan, 2xMRI Sacans, EEG's including sleep deprived for over 24 hrs that was difficult. i have had video telemetry, and finally diagnosed with left temporal lobe epilepsy, slight damage on left temporal lobe, i have been on every medication possible and no i am not exagerating, i have either had allergic reactions severely or no control, i have had 3 carida arrests due to status epilepticus, had many a stay in hospital, my body pumped with diazomols etc, and done no good, for 16months ago started on Phenytoin, this seems to be the best control, although i had to put up with the side effects, till my body got used to it. It really is a frightening experience, i almost drowned in the bath, my hubby saved me just in time, my first was at the wheel of my car, needless to say i am no longer driving, i haven,'t gone a year seizure free yet, which is the law here in UK. The longest gone between has been 15wks,usually i have 3 or 4 over 10days sometimes more!
Anyway i would really appreciate any positive comments on this TLE as i have been suffering severe deppression of late and now have Non epileptic attacks also, great! now i'm going mad!!!HELP!!!!!
I am not suitable for surgery, guess what, my memory is on the wrong side of brain, and also with the non epileptic attacks, its classed as pyschological!charming hey?
Look forward to hearing from you all soon, take care.
