View Full Version : should one stay in wheel chair if one has bad grand mals?

i dont know anymore. the seizures come on so quick now, no warning, bam i am unconsious, the movement is getting slower, my seizures and unconcious times are shorter. but i still cant control my grandmals. and there are people who are close to me that want me to stay in my wheelchair. they dont want me to get hurt in a seizure. but most of the time i feel good, i am gettn my energy back, slowly. I mean i am in constant headaches, but nothing u can do about that. - unles u want to be on heavy meds which i dont. i need help with this .

I understand the family being concerned and not wanting you hurt. I have heard of some folks using a wheel chair after a seizure if they have a spell of Todd's or are really wobbly. You would need to consider though how hurt you could be if you seized and fell out of the chair. If you have really stron grand mals, it would not prevent injury, might even make it worse!! Glad to hear that you are regaining strength and the events are getting shorter. Keep working with the doctor to find the right dose that can help but not keep you all drugged up.
