View Full Version : Am I a candidate for the Vagal Nerve Stimulator?

I was diagnoised with Sterge Weber Syndrome when I was 20 years old. I am now 25. I have only had two seizures in my life. I have a "mark" on my left optical lobe. One seizure was before I was diagnoised and the other was because I forgot to take my medicine and drank too much beer. I have been sober ever since!

I am taking Tegretol XR, now CR because I lived in Asia, for a year but I took Depakote. The Depakote made me hard to be around and made me FAT! The tegretol has been good plus it controls the migranes (another sympton of SWS)

My question. I have been looking for a picture of a VNS. Also some legitimate reading material on the device. I am currently inbetween jobs and am waiting for my insurance to start again and I would like to see if the VNS would work for me.

I still get Auras and recently I have been getting numbness on the left side of my head that drives me crazy! I was wondering if the VNS would take care of those and seizures. I would gladly take a wristwatch in my chest to get rid of the auras. If you or your child has them then you know how much of a pain they are! The only good point about them is when they get REALLY bad I know I am going to have a seizure (according to the doctors)

Well thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. Hopefully you can answer some of my questions or maybe point me in the direction of someone who can.

if you have a reply PLEASE email me at skothines@yahoo.com Thank you so much for your help!
