Hi, I recently (Monday) started taking Essential Enzymes and PB8. The first few days seemed ok, I don't have as many stomach problems as normal. But I have noticed, yesterday and especially today, that I have very bad nausea. Right now I feel very sick and my stomach is hurting, I don't know if it's related to the enzymes or what. I read in an old post that they can make you feel sick, I tried to find it but couldn't.

Does this feeling go away after a few days?

That is unusual because I use that enzyme once daily before lunch which is the biggest meal I eat during the day and have never ever been nauseated from it.

Did you take like the instructins say at the beginning of the meal?

You are probably over the nausea by now--

I take it with lunch and dinner, is that too many times? I do take it before the meal too. It was just weird, I would wake up and be fine for a bit then start feeling sick, it would go away after a few hours, I don't even take an enzyme for breakfast. But yesterday I woke up, worked out, then started feeling really sick. It lasted a bit longer than Wednesday but it went away then I felt fine the rest of the day. I just read an old post about someone mentioning it, but I couldn't find it again.

freely,

As I said I only take 1 Essential Enzyme a day with the meal that I eat the most protein. And, that is usually lunch.

Essential Enzymes contains enzymes to digest -- protein, carbohydradtes and fats. There is a little in it for digesting milk sugar and fiber but very not much.

If you look on the label the capsule is 57% for digesting protein, 25% to digest fats, and 12.8% for carbs --- that is about 95% of the 500mg capsule.

I only take it when the meal needs some help digesting-- certainly not with every meal.

All raw foods contain enzymes so with fruits and raw veggies you don't need any extra help. But, all natrual enzymes are killed at a temperature of only 118 degrees F.

If you need help digesting milk or dairy products -- most people have problems with the milk sugar (lactose) and not the protein then go buy some Lactase. The amount in Essential Enzyme is only 5mg -- not very much.

Some foods like fermented dairy products --like yogurt and kefir contains enough enzymes for digestion by themselves so I don't take anything for those.

The digestion for each of us is all different and we certainly eat differently!!
A good example is I only drink water with very few exceptions.

I think a person has to taylor the digestive enzymes they take to what they eat along with what their own body produces.

What are you having trouble digesting?

Well I thought I was having problems digesting everything, haha now I'm confused. I eat lunch late after noon at work then dinner in the evening, it seems that everytime I eat I would get gas pains so when I go out I don't eat so I can avoid those. The digestive enzymes have helped that though. I want to start incorporating more veggies and fruits in my diet, but right now, for money and convenience reasons I really don't eat that much. On a typical day I eat oatmeal for breakfast, a can of condensed soup and two 100 calorie packs for lunch, and usually a lean cusine for dinner. To add to the list, I also tried to avoid fruit and veggies if I was going somewhere to avoid getting gas.

I know you mentioned trying Beano before, I need to get a thing of that to try because I know I seriously need to start eating more veggies and fruits.
Also I want to add that I don't feel nauseous this morning.

freely,
You are not eating enough of the right kind of food to stay healthy!!

It is certainly OK to be on a diet and limit your food & calorie intake but for your body to function properly it needs vital nutrients that include --protein, essential fatty acids including some fat , and carbohydrates.

If you don't eat properly then you will develop all sorts of disorders, ailments and it will affect your immune system so that you will not be able to fight off many diseases and chronic sicknesses.

Gas will become a minor problem.

Health begins with what you eat and drink!

I don't like to sound to condeming but the choices you make greatly affects the quality of life you live.

You could do a search about --- Controlling Intestinal Gas -- or just --- Intestinal Gas--

There is many sites that tell you about controlling gas.

I wish you well --- Harry

I know, I really want to eat healthy, I just think I have a strong fear of food since I've been having all these issues. Like I'm terrified it will give me pains or something more embarrassing. I work a lot and if I have gas I'm completely miserable, because I'm around people all day and I don't have many options with it, if you understand..haha. Also I work sometimes 10 hours a day, we don't have a fridge at work so I'm limited on what I can bring for lunch. Somehow I'll get this worked out..thank you for your help!!
