Does having Herpes effect the quality of a man's sperm? Does this mean I should not have children.
Sorry for the stupid question, but I was recently diagnosed as having the H.

Herpes does not effect sperm count or motility of the sperm. If you are planning on becoming pregnant you will have to advise your doctor that you have herpes. I believe this is due to the fact that if you are having an o/b while giving birth they do not want the baby to catch the virus.
A number of women have posted on here in the past that they have given birth vaginally and have not passed it onto the baby, while some have had cesarians.
Don't worry too much, herpes is a virus and it doesn't go through your blood stream so your child wont catch it while it is growing inside of you. You are likely thinking of babies who are born with HIV.
Hopefully there might be a few posters around who have had babies so they can tell you from experience what herpes does/nt affect.
