Hi I was wondering if anyone is taking this combo of meds and how they are doing with it??
I started Trileptal in July and have not been able to be seizure free so doctor put me on Keppra 2 weeks ago and I am getting more seizures than before.
Was wondering if anyone else has had this experience
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Janine

Hi - that combo of drugs has been the latest recomendation for our Rebecca - we tried trileptal - didn't work and the next drug will be keppra, but we are going to go medication free before we try it (we have to be really grasping for something to try another new drug). We find nothing works and when we make an appointment to see the neurologist, he will of course suggest the latest new drug. Then we try it and all the horrible side effects and bingo, we are back where we started. Seems Rebecca's seizures have a mind of their own and we have to try not to panic when things get worse (like right now).....because they typically always get worse before they get better. I did read on previous posts that there has been some permanents difficulty with eye pain on keppra - scary stuff for us as Rebecca is developmentally delayed and could not describe that side effect to us............cheers to you and yours.....Paula

Right now Rai is on phenobarb, trileptal and keppra. We just added the keppra in after her most recent hospital stay. So far it seems to be helping but for the most part meds don't work very long for her.

Hi,
My son is 14 and has had partial seizures since he was 12. He has been on every combination of drugs there is. He is on 3000 mg. Keppra, 200mg Lamitical, and right now on 750mg Trileptal. They want to decrease the Lamitcal to 0 and up the Trileptal to 1200 mg. So far its not working and his seizures have doubled. I get so frustrated about the the whole thing. He goes back in May and they put the surgery on hold for 1.5 years to see if they could find the right combination but I think they will look at that or the VNS by then
because nothing working. I just hope they find an answer because its definely no way to live for a teenager.

My son is 7 and he has absent seisures, we have tried lots of medications. He has just started taking Keppra, he has been taking Zonegran and Lamital, then they added Topomax and took him off Lamital and his seirsure were so bad we couldn't send him to school, so now he is taking Zonegran and Keppra. It has gotten his seirsure back under control, but I'm tired of taking new medicines. He is have nvs put in Friday 3/7/03. If this don't work I don't know what our next step will be.
