The skin test is false? Where did you get this information?
I had the test (along with the blood test and patch test) and I found it to be entirely accurate. The test results have helped me; I am now treating for the correct things and know what to avoid.
I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time, in any case.
Have you found that removing peanuts and chocolate from your diet have helped?

The skin test is usually better for airborne allergies and the blood one for food. That's not to say they are totally false the other way just htat this is usually the way it works out.

Yopirate, when my daughter had food allergies the only protein food that she wasn't allergic to was meat. Of course she was malnourished because she couldn't eat most foods. She got the flu a few years ago which developed into a nasty pneumonia and she was really sick. She couldn't eat for 3 weeks and guess what happened - she got really puffy. She had to be admitted to the hospital because her pneumonia was really bad and a smart resident there checked her protein levels in her blood and they were well below normal. He explained that because she didn't have enough protein in her blood that through osmosis her fluid was leaking out of her blood vessels because there wasn't enough protein inside her vessels to keep the fluid in there where it belonged. Once we got her to eat some meat (one meal!) her puffiness went away. Maybe you are not getting enough protein?
Why aren't you eating enough food!

I agree with Ticheou, it isn't that the skin test is false, but it is better for airborne allergies and the blood test is better for food allergies.
You need to eat more food, period. I know it is scary to eat when you don't know what will set you off, but surely you have figured out a few safe foods you can eat. Eat those safe foods and take a multivitamin while you wait for your test results. If you feel dairy is safe for you, a whey protein shake would be good for you. Whey is one of the most easily digested proteins available.
If you do find you have a lot of food allergies, I would consult with a nutritionist to make sure you are eating a balanced diet when you eliminate your allergenic foods.

Have similar symtoms and looking for some direction.
Began one year ago with tingling on my cheeks just below my eyes. Had a sinus infection not long after. Since that time, I have had a triangluar patch of edema under both eyes, and signifcant darkness under eyes especially upon waking but noticeable thru the day. THere is also a pinching or tingling sensation under the eyes and an audible click heard thru the day that seems to come from around the right nostril or sinus area.
What is it? Sinus or allergy? Cat scan showed sinusitus but ENT said he saw nothing. It's been a year by January.
Crazy.

thank you very much guys!! things are much better now. it was so simple thru my own experimentation ive found out its probably soy. which would make sense because soy is in most chocolate and pretty much everything lol. the puffiness is all gone. i dont really know what else to say but thank you guys. i never meant to say the skin priccck test is false i just meant the blood test is much more accurate and why do the skin if it can bring up false results thats pretty pointless. im going in for a blood food allergy test very soon so i'll know once and for all, but pretty much through my own testing i discovered its soy. and it all makes sense too lol because soy is in wheat, bread, tons of things and i never knew. but once again thank you guys for all your replies and help.
i recommend if anyone else is going thru this GET BLOOD allergy tested not the skin test. bye guys
