little_emt 03-04-2003, 08:02 PM I had a seziure on the school bus monday the bus driver called the ambulance after they got there and had me in the ambulance the gave me shot of valium. What's is it for? i have never heard of it before. kayakmom 03-06-2003, 12:04 PM It relaxes your whole neuro system and stops the seizure, usually you will go to sleep after it. It is also in Diastat, a gel form for little kids. Hope you are doing better now... jimbo_reggie 03-06-2003, 03:20 PM hello i used to take valium before i was diagnosed with epilepcy and it used to help. Now i know why. I used to buy it over the counter when i was in thailand. Now i can't get it without persciption niunia 03-07-2003, 12:20 AM Be careful...it can lead to addication... little_emt 03-08-2003, 11:09 AM i don't take valium as a regular med. i am on lamtical. up until monday i have not had a sezuire in 3 years. i scared my bus driver to death. i think he keeps a close watch on me now. maybe i will not have any more. giupset 03-09-2003, 09:52 PM Valium is in the category of benzodiazepines. It relaxes the central nervous system. If you had a seizure, your parents will need to take you to a Neurologist for an EEG and an MRI of the brain. These tests are not painful at all. An EEG is like an EKG (ECG) except the wires are connected to your scalp. An MRI - they'll put you in this big machine sort of like a tunnel. If you don't like closed in places just close your eyes and you should be fine. Valium may be used in conjunction with another medication to control seizures but is normally not used alone. This was just a rescue medication at the time. |
