hi there

I have had these things for the past 8 years where my hole body tensis up and i start to pull weird faces. I loose track of whats going on around me. At first i thought that they were flash backs due to my past drug taking. I don't know wheather this thing is a phsycolical thing or a physical thing.

It happens to me at least 5 times a day. My ex girlfriend had a relitive in her family who was a doctor and suggested that it might be a mild form of epilecy. Problem is that i am a taxi driver and if the goverment find out about it then my courir would liturly fanish. So while i was in Thailand last month i paid to have a head scan and he said that there was a few miner problems with my brain waves and stuck me on this drug called Topamax. I stared to take it in thailand and it started to make me go all tingly. I have not taken it since because if i am not epilectic then it would do more harm than good.

Does anybody else suffer with this syndrome and if you do then are you also classed as epilectic.

Hi and welcome. First let me define epilepsy. Epilepsy is a seizure disorder which is defined as having more than one unexplained seizure. Basically if you are having seizures on a daily basis with no known cause then you probably have epilepsy. How do you know if they are seizures? There are many different forms and each persons experience varies. Assuming you have epilepsy, I would say you either have complex partial or simple partial motor seizures. You might want to look into these. And take your meds!!! I can't stress it enough. They may take a while to work properly but most of the drugs are relatively safe. When i sarted taking my meds I felt funny but after awhile the feelings went away and I've been on them for nine years and I am fine. Good luck to you.

Thank you for your reply. At least i now know what to call these seizers. Uptill now my friends and me have called them freezes.
It will be interesting to see how long i last in my new job as a taxi driver. Probably not the best job for an epileptic. I will just put some music on my sterio and pretend that i am dancing when i am having a seizure.
Anyway thanx

hello again,
it is jimbo-reggie formerly known as james_reg.
I discided to take the topmax. I have been taking it for a week now.

It has made me have less seizures but when i do have them they are stronger. I don't know weather this is normal or if it is just the medication starting to work.

Is this normal?

Are you under the care of a regular doctor? I think that would be the best place to start!

Take care.

oh yeah sorry, i don't think i wasn't very clear on that. I was percribed the medication but my doctor is in thailand. I know that if i see a doctor over here then i will lose my liscence and my job which i cannot afford. I know that sounds bad but i have delt with this for 8 years and i only have had a few minor crashes. Some were my fault and some were others. but most people have crashes in some time of there lives and touch wood i haven't had an inccendent in 4 years. The thing is that i know i can drive but the doctor sitting at his desk 300 miles away with a bit of paper saying eplictic will just through my liscence in the bin. I do have contact with my doctor in thailand and they seem to know more of what they are doing than the English ones. So i will carry one and see what happens. I am flying back out there within the next few months anyway so they can have another look at me after i have been taking this medication.

You may want to track when you are having a seizure. Certain types of things, such as specific kinds of music, lights, stress, etc., can cause a seizure. Are you out of it during your seizures? What about afterwards? If so, this is normal. If you are having these seizures so often you should not be driving or doing any other dangerous tasks as this could cause harm to you and/or others. I know it's a pain but there must be something else at least temporarily until you can get this under control.

Take your meds. If Topamax is not controlling this completely, they will try something else. There is Lamictal and Tegretol that seems to work well with patients. Be careful and good luck!
