Can anyone tell me if there is any other way of finding out if I still have my appendix other than having a CT Scan.
I have a 7 inch long scar from an operation I had when I was 4 years old, I have always been told that I had had my appendix removed. On several occassions over the years I have been told by doctors whilst being examined that my scar was far too low for it to be an appendectomy.
Can anyone help me find out the truth behind this scar.

Lots of children have hernia problems. Possibly you had a surgery for that?

Thank you dustoffkid, I welcome your suggestion, but it dose'nt explain why I have been lied to for all these years.

Wont your parents or some other relative who may know tell you?this seems a bit odd.for your own healths sake,you really DO need to find out just what was done and most importantly,why.
if you can at least find out who your doc was back then you "may' be able to trace down old records in some way,but at any rate,you do deserve to know what the heck happened to your own body.i would see your regular family doc and ask what options would be best in order to see what was done inside you.they could do a CT or MRI or even ultrasound which would be the cheapest.
the thing is,depending on the actual skill of the surgeon who did your particular surgery,it could very well have been what you were originally told.some docs/surgeons are not the best,you know what i mean?how big and where your scar actually is would depend on alot of actual factors or any possible complications that could have arisin.i am just saying that you may have been actually told the truth here but unfortunetly for what ever reason,the surgeon may have had some 'issues' you know what i mean?i wouldn't just jump to other conclusions based on what one doc told you.you just don't appear to actually know all the facts yet.
but you still do need to take a peek in your abdominal area anyways just to be sure of whats actually still there.hopefully everything is still intact.please let us know if you should find out anything else.FB
