Hey - it's just me, Kaitie (I changed my screen name but I don't think I'll most much under this name anyways - just letting you know)

I've been wondering if anyone else who has E also has stabbing stomach pains? I'm not taking meds yet - so it isn't that...but quite often - about once or twice a week, I'm just floored with a stomach aches from the pits of you know where.

Its sometimes an upset stomach - and sometimes like a stabbing pain. It will last a few days (I'm on day #3 of this bought).

I've tried EVERYTHING including changing my diet - my doctor has tested me for diabetes, cancer you name it, I'm tested...but nothing.

My last resort is that its some sort of seizure complication?!?!

Any thoughts?

Love Kaitie

Hi Kaitie,

If it makes you feel any better, I throw up from 1-5 times a week. Sometimes there's pain, sometimes there's nausea, sometimes I just know I'm going to do it. I've just gotten used to it. I worry about my teeth, tho...

Katie,
My daughter is 15 and was diagnosed last April with Epilepsy. She also started to have severe abdominal pains that last for several days. We didn't know what was causing them, the doctors thought that she probably had ovarian cysts. It wasn't until we went into Boston for a second opinion for her epilepsy that the neurologist we saw told us what he thought. He has actually written several papers with a gastronenterologist where he has found that people with epilepsy can also have seizures in the abdomen. What he calls abdominal seizures...You might want to ask your doctor about it. Our doctor is head of the neuro/endicrin unit at Beth Israel. He really only does research now and takes a limited number of patients.
Good luck,
Tina

Have you asked your Neuro about the pains? He may be able to tell from your EEG if your seizures could also be causing this. He might be able to tell from the spike waves on your EEG. My son has abdominal seizures, but his are short lasting. epilepsy ontario . org talks about different types of seizures. Hope you find help quickly....
