I have applied for disability in Alabama and I am wondering if there is anyone else on the board from Alabama. I know different states work in different ways so I am looking for someone who might answer questions about the way our state works. Thank you.

I'm from Alabama and my husband was approved earlier this year. After he applied, it was probably about six to seven months later that he was denied. He appealed and it was probably about another six to seven months that he was approved with an "on the record" decision by the ALJ. However, he was receiving LTD from Hartford and they paid to have Allsup represent him. So, they did a good bit of the leg work on his behalf.

Thank you for your response AdviceSeeker. I have a doctor's appt. Friday of this week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have had four cervical fusions and two lumbar surgeries. I also have spinal stenosis and a list of medical terms that I cannot remember. I have been seeing a a pain specialist since 1992 and on a monthly basis for several years. Again, thanks for your reply.

Thank you for your response AdviceSeeker. I have a doctor's appt. on Friday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have had four cervical fusions and two lumbar surgeries. I have been seeing a pain management specialist since 1992and monthly for the last few years. I do expect to be turned down the first time even though my case is well documented. Again, thanks for the response.
