Does anyone have any advice how to get rid of cold sores? Medications, Ointments, anything that works!

I got some cream from my doctor, that helps as does valtrex, which is a pill. Don't sweat it though, it may seem like a ***** but it could be alot worse. It's just a little skin thing; not big in the scheme of things especially if you check out some of the other problems people have on this board. Happy holidays

I like carmex ointment as it's clear and not like some other ointments which look like a white blob sitting on your lip.

Toothpaste is good too, but only when you are at home in private, it cools and sooths and helps a lot in stopping it from getting bigger.

Take a course of lysine tablets also helps.

Learning to know what causes cold sores helps too eg: lack of sleep, low immune system, chocolate, peanuts, sun exposure

Okay, this is what you do:

First, buy L-Lysine...when you have a cold sore, 3000mgs a day. When you dont have it to help prevent it to reoccur, that 1000 mgs aday. Also, Take 4 pills of grapfruit seed extract everyday...it will also help your immune system...its good to take overall. Once you see/feel the sore coming on, dilute a capule of grapefruit seed and put it on the sore for 10 minutes....It will in activate the virus.

This what I do, every hour I put alcohol on it,rub it hard...it will hurt... it helps it not to blister...I do it until its gone!!! And use Abeva...It will help the duration of them.

But dont forget the grapefruit seed and L-Lysine, that helps speed recovery!!! When in the sun, put chapstick on with SPF 45.
