In addition to my Lithium (currently 900mg/day, but going up) I take Wellbutrin SR 300mg a day. I take it not for depression or anything, but to quit smoking. I want to stop b/c I have a noticed that it makes my emotions flip even faster....and I'm more irritable quite often.

Anyone know if I can stop cold turkey? Any side effects? Or do I absolutely have to taper down, and if so, at what rate should I do that?

Thanks for all the help again!

well i just recently quit it cold turkey, but i had only been taking it for about 2 wks. i havent experienced any side effects from stopping it. im actually feeling better (i was extremely irratable on it also, hence stopping it). My sister was on it for a little while to. She weened herself off it and was getting stomach aches, but i believe that was her taking the meds that was doing it, not getting off of it.

I've been on it for at least 10 months religiously, and probably off and on for a while, too. So I don't know! I think I asked my doctor once a long time ago, and I thought he said it would be no big deal.
