I feel sometimes as if I'm the only one suffering daily. So many here seem to say something helps them alot or they only have episodes of problems.
Despite taking at least 1 40 mg Nexium daily for 10 mos, my stomach has kept feeling ill many times almost daily, including burning, bloating, nauseous. And the incessant "minor throat burping" that accompanies most of my reflux, I'm certain.
Despite taking at least 2 40 mg Nexium daily for the last 5 mos as well as 150mg Zantac, still with the stomach and my throat is still burning and my tongue more coated and even my ears get the warm sensation.
This last also despite upping the Zantac to 300 mg the last few weeks.
It is RARE that I have truly "good days". I'm had less obnoxious days but rarely do I ever feel free of ANY of these symptoms any given day.
I know I have gastroparesis but it's "mild", t1/2 time = 110 min instead of 90.
Does anyone else feel they essentially suffer every single day, despite long-standing treatment?

Nexium obviously isn't working for you. Ask your doctor for some samples of other acid reflux medicine. I'm surprised he hasn't switched you to something else since this isn't working. You can also try a health store. I don't take prevacid anymore since I found something at the health store. Look in the digestive section. There are a ton of products. Digestive enzymes are probably the first thing you should try.

I have all the symptoms you mentioned daily almost 24/7. I feel very boated and it hurts in my stomach area actuall upper left abdomen going around to the back.
I am on 40mg Nexium..changed this week from Pantoprazle.
At night I have a really hard time. I find it hard to breath lying on my back and right side. I have to lie on my left side sort of stretched out. I have a burning hard to breath sensation. This will happen sitting also.Abra pressing can do it or something tight around my waist.
This has been going on really bad for 4 months. I do have Acid Reflux and a Hiatus Hernia.
I didn't mention the burping and bloated feeling like pressing up into my diaphram.
Any one else ?

The funny thing is even when I suggested that (and my mom has too - she goes to the same GE and has many GI problems), he replied that Nexium is the best there is. (I.e., why change it?)
Again, I do have gastroparesis so that is another factor. It's not just a sphincter failing (which who knows if that is happening at all). I also may have bile coming up, which may be ruining things more than acid.
The man is the head of the whole dept. of a good hospital, but I do have my doubts (I guess that is my mind racing, 2nd-guessing the experts, hoping against hope I can someday stop this nightmare).

Nexium is not the best. It didn't work for me. Everyone's body is different. He must be a moron to not understand that its not working. Insist that he give you samples for something else. Its your body. You're the one who suffers if your medicine isn't working. You don't have to be mean at all but if its not working he HAS to try something else.

I have suffered with this for at least 30 years. Had a scope done to see if there was any damage and of course there is. Was put on nexium but that didnt do any better than the cheap stuff at the dollar store. Have just learned to cope with it. Change in diet didnt work either. Had about a week and 1/2 last month where I actually didnt take a pill. Weird. Had episodes where I would wake up vomiting acid and choking. That really scared me. I dont really know if there is a cure for this at all. If anyone knows of one please, please, please let me know.

ANNALEE- Go to a health store and check out the digestive section. I take digestive enzymes and they work great for me.

I agree with alag - try the health store route. The thing that helped me huge was a combination of magnesium and calcium. It is one pill with both in it - that has helped me so that I don't have one symptom. After taking all that other Nexium, Prilosec which didn't do anything to help me. It is definitely worth a try.

It seems that half the simple, OTS non-PPI/non-H2-blockers are Ca and Mg. Just buy Maalox or Mylanta.

Magnesium and Calcium. I had asked about that before, another thread, and someone said it was no better than taking tums, only temporary, and not if you have Barretts. I've thought about the mag/calcium I have a bottle in my med cabinet.
